One fairly effective gamification technique is to award points to visitors for taking certain actions while on your website. For instance, you can award 5 points each time a visitor shares one of your blog articles on his or her Twitter account. Awarding valuable prizes, such as a 10 percent discount, once the user reaches a certain number of points can encourage the person to remain engaged enough to achieve the goal.
There are several benefits you can reap from implementing this on your site. People will have to sign up for accounts to track their points, which provides you with another avenue to market to them. If you design your award program right, people who sign up will market your business for you (e.g. promoting you on social media and leaving reviews to get points). Lastly, since they invested time and emotion in your dental practice, people are more likely to do business with you rather than the competition.
Turn the Site into a Game
If creating an awards program requires more time, money, and effort than you're willing to spend on it, you can still engage website visitors by turning the site itself into a game. A simple online scavenger hunt can get people clicking around your site to locate items on a virtual list, for instance. A trivia quiz can encourage people to read the information on you site to answer the provided questions.
While you can implement this idea without awarding any prizes, offering one may get more visitors to participate.
